Burnout is often at the root of weight gain during perimenopause.

Burn-out feels like being physically and mentally exhausted. It can look like heavy periods or other period symptoms. I can look like sugar cravings or craving that glass of wine.

Burn-out can look like a lot of things.

What's causing your burn-out?

Open stress loops.

Our bodies are designed to experience and manage stress. The problem, is that in our modern world, we don't get a chance to "close the stress loop."

Closing your stress loop, is about giving your body what it needs, to go through and process the stress.

For example, you have a disagreement with your boss and you feel your body's stress signals surge. You go back to your desk, fume alone and then crave "something sweet" later in the day. This is an example of an open stress loop.

Our body's stress adaptation system is very primal and is best adapted to save our bodies from high stress situations like dying/being eaten by a lion.

Normally, we'd close the stress loop by running home to the village, telling everyone in our tribe about what happened, there'd be a celebration with dancing and a fire because you survived. This is an example of closing the stress loop.

Working out the stress, is closing the loop.

In this modern age, closing the stress loop could be taking 5mins alone outside to listen to a powerful song and then shake it out, by literally shaking your body for 2-5mins (or dancing with arms flailing....) or pressing really hard against a sturdy wall for 90 seconds.

You have options.

Close your stress loops and see your body start releasing it's fat.
